Dan Smith, a seasoned dirt late model driver from Beloit, Kansas, has built a commendable racing career marked by significant achievements. In 2025, Dan added another milestone to his résumé by capturing the Sooner Late Model Series Points Championship, locking it up by 67 points—proof that sometimes six-seven really is the winning number.
Previously, he clinched the NCRA Late Model Championship titles in 2015 and 2021 and was honored as the NCRA Rookie of the Year in 2015. His prowess on the track is further highlighted by victories at the Grand Nationals in 2019 and 2024.
In August 2024, Dan showcased his racing acumen by sweeping the Bob Salem Memorial weekend at Oberlin Speedway, securing back-to-back $1,000 victories in the High Plains Late Model Series. He also demonstrated his competitive edge by surviving a final-turn challenge to win a Sooner Late Model main event at 81 Speedway.
The 2025 Sooner Late Model Series season carried extra significance, as Dan’s father—the multiple Hall of Fame inducted “Iceman”—finished second in the championship standings, making it a memorable one-two family result and further cementing the Smith legacy in dirt late model racing.
Beyond his on-track accomplishments, Dan is recognized for his versatility and dedication to the sport. He has contributed as a graphics designer, marketing specialist, and product developer for various motorsport companies, and was among the pioneers to implement full vehicle wraps in the racing industry. Balancing his professional endeavors, Dan is a devoted family man, proud #GirlDad, and an avid gamer, often competing online under the gamertags SoBe92 or EbOs92.
